EDGI’s Congressional Testimony for Energy and Commerce Subcommittee Hearing: “EPA Enforcement: Taking the Environmental Cop off the Beat”

On Tuesday February 26th Professor Chris Sellers from Stony Brook University testified on behalf of EDGI for the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.

The hearing “EPA’s Enforcement Program: Taking the Environmental Cop Off The Beat” investigates the EPA’s enforcement record under the Trump administration. EDGI was invited to testify following publication of our recent report A Sheep in the Closet: Erosion of Enforcement at the EPA and blogs about declines in EPA enforcement. Our work is based on analysis of interviews with EPA staff and available data from the EPA.  This the first time an EDGI member has testified before Congress. We are thankful to all those who have shared their experiences with EDGI and for the opportunity to share our research and analysis on this vital topic.
