Workshop Title
Share Your Voice: Effective Public Comment Writing for EPA’s Proposal to Weaken Standards for Ethylene Oxide Emissions
Overview
Join the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) and the Environmental Data and Governance Initiative (EDGI) for a workshop on writing effective public comments on EPA’s proposed rule to weaken ethylene oxide emissions standards from commercial sterilization facilities. Despite the chemical being a known cancer-causing air pollutant, the proposed rule would increase emissions of sterilizer facilities that use ethylene oxide. While the administration has removed many essential resources discussing the chemical from EPA’s website, EDGI has documented and archived these pages and UCS has extensive reports and tools for assessing ethylene oxide risk.
We all have the opportunity to make our voices heard by submitting a public comment on this proposed rule. Whether this is your first time hearing about public comments or you’re looking to understand more about the risks of ethylene oxide and the proposed changes in this rule, this workshop is open to you! In this session we will:
- Present and explain key components of the proposed rule
- Share tools and tips for writing an effective public comment
- Answer any questions you may have about the proposed rule specifically or about public comments generally
